Here are excellent examples of "extended and constructed responses". As a class, we reviewed each response to check that it followed RACER. Students also saw how responses could be improved with the citing of textual evidence, and students were advised to come see me if their responses did not look anything like the ones we reviewed.

We will start reading "The Monkey's Paw" and today, students were given the opportunity to write a "short response" to the question: "Do you believe there are aspects of life that are predetermined? Or, do you think people determine their own future by the choices they make? Why or why not?" We reviewed the literary terms that will be encountered with this short story.
